Level 1
This class is designed for beginners or intermediate yogis who want to deepen their
understanding of Anusara Yoga’s Universal Principles of Alignment. This class explores a full range of Level 1 poses while focusing on alignment in order to strengthen, heal and free the body and soul.

Level 1/2
This class is designed for strong beginners and intermediate yogis who want to continue to develop their knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment. A stronger competency of the Anusar Yoga level 1 poses will lead to deeper expressions and some of the Anusara Yoga Level 2 poses.

Power Flow
This is an upbeat Anusara Yoga vinyasa class that builds tapas (heat) in the body. This class is for students with some yoga experience wanting a more dynamic flow class with less talk and more walk!

Intermediate/Advanced
A class for yogis with a minimum of two years physical yoga experience. Participants to this class should be seeking a more strenuous practice and be able to do full wheel and unassisted handstand against the wall.

Pranayama
Yoga breathing, or Pranayama, is the science of breath control. It consists of series of exercises especially intended to meet the body's needs and keep it in vibrant health. Pranayama comes from the following words:
Prana - "life force" or "life energy"
Yama - "discipline" or "control"
Ayama - "expansion", "non-restraint", or "extension"
Ideally, this practice of opening up the inner life force is not merely to take healthy deep breaths. It is intended for yoga practitioners to help and prepare them in their Meditation process. Our Pranayama practice on Sunday mornings is an hour-long session with instruction and is suitable for any level student.

Benefits of Pranayama
Pranayama teaches us the proper way to breathe. We became used to breathing from our chest, using only a fraction of the lungs, not knowing that this unhealthy and unnatural way of inhaling may lead to several complications. With yoga breathing, we increase the capacity of our lungs, bringing more oxygen supply to the body to function well. We learn how to breathe slowly and deeply - the right way.

  • Pranayama reduces the toxins and body wastes from within our body. It prevents one from acquiring diseases.
  • Pranayama helps in one's digestion. With the proper way of breathing, one's metabolism and health condition will start to improve.
  • Pranayama develops our concentration and focus. It fights away stress and relaxes the body. Controlling one's breathing also results to serenity and peace of mind.
  • Pranayama offers a better self-control. Through concentration, one can better handle temper and reactions. Mind can function clearly, avoiding arguments and wrong decisions. Moreover, self-control also involves control over one's physical body.
  • Pranayama leads to spiritual journey through a relaxed body and mind.

“The Practice”
This two hour session is designed for intermediate and advanced students and yoga teachers to practice together in a group setting. It is not a led session (I.E., a “Class”), although the free-flow style may include some led instruction by David Belz. It is an opportunity for experienced students and teachers to advance their practice through the assistance and guidance of other experienced yogis and an opportunity to commune socially with other like-minded yogis. Participation must include advance approval from David Belz. Please call the studio to make a request.
Yoga Together
An ongoing class for parents with small children (Ages 6 months to 2 years) who want to introduce their tots to the wonderful world of yoga. Parents and children explore gentle yoga poses, incorporated with music and games in a free flow, fun style to engage children in an enriching exercise experience. There will be social time after the class for parents/caretakers and children.

Pre- and Postnatal Yoga
A gentle Anusara-inspired hatha class for pre and post natal women who want to benefit from the physical and mental advantages yoga can provide. Studies have shown that engaging in a gentle yoga practice throughout pregnancy can help by increasing strength, circulation, flexibility and balance, can help reduce swelling, back and leg pain and insomnia, and can help expectant mothers learn pain management techniques which can help during labor. Postnatal yoga practice (with doctor’s approval) can help new moms regain their pre-baby form, can assist with reducing water retension and swelling and can provide mental relaxation through breathing and meditation practices.

Special notes: New babies up to six months in car seats or not yet mobile are welcome in this class. And, this class is open to all women seeking a gentle hatha class. Pregnancy or mom-status not required.
